This hotpot stands out as one of my preferred choices, offering a more creatively crafted and higher-quality selection of dishes. Though slightly pricier, the cleaner and more pleasant environment justifies the cost. The freshly made fish paste and a diverse range of meats—beef, pork, and fish—add to the culinary experience. The variety extends to vegetables, tofu, mushrooms, and noodles. The unique touch of a drumstick soaking in the chicken broth, peeled by the waitress with gloves, adds a distinctive flavor. The spicy sauce and vinegar mix, with coriander and peanuts, serves as a delightful appetizer. Opting for both a spicy mala broth and a chicken base soup, the attentive service and rich flavors further enhance the dining experience.
Our favorite restaurant in this area! We come here almost every week! Everything is so yummy, the lunch specials are quite cost effective! Maybe the service can be improved for a bit, like filling up the water etc.
I've not came to Clarke Quay for more than 10 years and I hopped here for their rabbit 😏.
I've eaten rabbit at a couple of French restaurants but they are always dry and overcooked. Tong Xin Ru Yi's rabbit is damn tender and tasty! The sauce is mildly spicy and taste a bit like curry and it's not oily. This is the best rabbit I ever had. Chinese cuisine is still the best. 5/5 stars.
Their shanghai scallion oil free range chicken is damn tender and juicy too. Better than any chicken rice chicken here. 5/5.
The bull frog skewers are like the biggest fried chicken wings I've ever eaten. The batter is the potato starch thin and sticky kind. 5/5.
Their egg fried rice is good too 5/5.
The ambience of the restaurant is very clean, modern and comfortable too. For a place like that looks like this I've thought the prices will be sky high to con tourists but their prices are ok.
The golden chicken soup was flavourful and came with a huge pick of chicken leg! The chicken leg still tasted moist surprisingly.
Vegetables and meat were fresh. We enjoyed the fried mint leaves. Didn't have any strong minty taste and the batter was light.
Service could be better. They didn't refill our waters unless we asked and even then it took a while for them to get back to us.
Also there was a dining limit for me and my friend. We were asked to leave after 2h
Hotpot with hearty soup base - tried both the chicken broth and tomato base, both were delicious. We ordered assorted meat platters, soy sauce chicken, fried pork pieces and milk tea, all were good choices.
I previously had hot pot here two years ago. Today, I returned to try their dishes, and they were decent.
One of the best hotpot places in SG! Tried both the chicken and tomato soup and both are very good and unique, unlike other hotpot places. What is also good about this place is the cooked food, would highly recommend getting the spring onion soy sauce steamed chicken, fried mala pork and fried mochi with brown sugar!
Do note that you will need to reserve otherwise it’s also impossible to walk-in!
The chicken soup based (one of their signatures) was super flavorful. Meats were fresh and portions pretty generous. Also love that the baby crawfish we ordered came shelled. The condiments bar had a good selection (similar to haidilao) but, they had a very very limited appetiser selection. When we were there, there was only a carb (fried kway tiao) and one fruit avail (sliced watermelon). We were also rushed a little to finish up because there was a dining limit of 2 hours. If you are looking to take your time with the food, TXRY may not be the best choice. Otherwise, this place is still worth a visit for its food quality. If you are driving, the nearby uob plaza has per entry parking after 6pm. Street parking is almost impossible during typical dinner hours.
